Dog parks are everywhere these days: inside city parks, in apartment complexes, and even on top of high-rise buildings.

bark parkBut you’ve never met a dog park quite like BarkPark, a new members-only spot that opened for business just a few weeks ago on Meridian Street in East Nashville.

BarkPark is the latest idea from BARK, the company that operates BarkShop, an online retail site for all things canine-related, and BarkBox, a subscription service that sends treats, toys, and other goodies to dogs and their humans. BARK decided to test out their new dog park concept in one city, and lucky us — they chose Nashville!

Whether you’re in need of an open yard for your pup or you have a yard, and just want to venture somewhere new, here are 5 reasons to check out BarkPark.

1. It’s set up for maximum enjoyment for dogs and humans.

Once you’re inside the dog park, your dog is totally fine to run around for an hour or two. But what about you? BarkPark has plenty to offer those who want to bring their dog and get some work done or socialize. With cozy seating areas and free WiFi, you won’t need to leave until your dog has played their furry heart out.

BarkPark partners with several Nashville businesses and organizations, including locally loved 8th & Roast. Once you’re inside BarkPark, head to the coffee bar to purchase a custom 8th & Roast cold brew for yourself, and grab a special treat for your furry friend, too. Want to stay and hang for a while? BarkPark has a BYOB rule, so bring your drink of choice, take your dog off his leash for some free-spirited grass-romping, and have a grand ol’ time inside the park.

3. You don’t have to commit to a membership immediately.

Want to try out BarkPark, but not sure if you can commit to a 4-week or season pass? Try a day pass instead! Your dog (and two humans) can test out the park for a whole day (or at least from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and decide if you want to pay for a membership.

4. Members can attend events at the park.

Always wanted to go to a yoga class with your dog? Now’s your chance! BarkPark and Habitat Yoga have teamed up to offer monthly bark parkclasses at the park, but that’s not the only fun you and your pup can have together. From movie nights to tailgating parties, check out all of BarkPark’s upcoming events on their event page (click here to visit the full calendar).

5. It’s only open for a limited window of time.

Nashville’s BarkPark opened just in time for pleasant fall weather, and it will close for the season just in time to avoid winter’s chill. The park closes on November 18 this year, so load up your pooch and try it out while you’ve still got time! The Nashville BarkPark is the very FURst (see what we did there?) dog park location from BARK, but the company has hinted at other locations in more cities.
