It’s officially fall, and I am neck-deep into the school year and trying not to let it get the best of me.
Obviously, it’s a shock to go from the blissful calm and freedom of summer to the absolute chaos of the high school classroom. So, I’ve tried to retreat into the traditions and celebration of the seasonal change to autumn to help ground me, and I want to make sure my makeup choices to weigh me down.
That’s why I’ve made the switch to clean, green beauty over the past years, and I’ve never regretted it.
Like every other human, I love fall: the scarves, the sweaters, the layers, the colors. Halloween.
Thanksgiving. The crisp weather. It’s exploded all over the social media world, and I’m just as basic and into it.
Along with the autumn transition comes bolder, darker makeup hues. Without the worry of makeup sweating off in summer heat, I like being able to wear a fuller, bolder face of makeup on special occasions that will stay put all day.
These colors and products are some of my faves for a green fall makeup look.
RMS “Un” Cover-Up. ($36 RMS Beauty) I alternate between the shades 11 and 22, reaching more for the lighter 11 when my skin loses its summer tan. This is my favorite concealer, and I use it every day that I wear makeup. It adds a nice moisture to the under-eye area as the weather cools down.
RMS Buriti Bronzer. ($28 RMS Beauty) Even though it’s no longer summer, this bronzer imparts the perfect, warm hint of brown/terra-cotta that is quintessentially fall. It is incredibly flattering on warmer skin tones.
Jane Iredale Gel Liner in Black. ($28 Walmart.com) Winged liner may be on its way out — I don’t know. I don’t follow the trends —but I don’t care. A clean line of black liner opens up my eyes and makes me look polished and classic. This is the best natural gel liner I’ve tried. It hasn’t dried out in over a year and applies smoothly and effortlessly. It doesn’t budge all day.
Red Apple Lipstick Eyeshadow in That’s My Jam. ($16 Red Apple Lipstick) Purple is the perfect shade to emphasize my green eyes, and this warm, plummy shade is great for autumn. The best part of this shade is that its warm undertones keep it from making me look like an exhausted zombie. I pat a little on my lids combined with the black eyeliner.
Honest Beauty Mascara. ($14 Honest Beauty) I still haven’t found a favorite natural mascara, so I’ve been alternating this one with the Burt’s Bees one as well. This one adds length without clumping, but I do wish it gave my lashes a bit more volume.
Ilia Beauty Ink Pot Lipstick. ($26 Beautylish) Once fall hits, suddenly dark, bold lips are all over the place. I love the look of deep oxbloods, inky purples, and berries that this season brings, and one of my faves is this color from Ilia. It’s a beautiful berry purple that is perfect for the evening and even the daytime if you pat it on as a stain. Try this out for your next night out!
The products are so high quality that you will not notice the difference between them and your conventional, chemical-laden makeup.
