You’ve found it if you walk in and immediately start redecorating in your mind, walk aimlessly through the store, entranced by all the pretty and offer outside-the-big-box-store options at a variety of price points. These stores all meet the criteria and then some. From modern to global to custom design, you need to know about these great decor stores.
Maxi B. Home, CityPark, 7030 Executive Center Dr., Brentwood, 615-942-5015
Maxi B. Home, located at 7030 Executive Center Dr. in Brentwood, is bright, colorful and somehow, modern and Southern traditional in one space. Store owner Karen Fuqua has an amazing eye for furniture, accessories, tableware and more that is fresh and modern without ever feeling cold. The prices are jaw-droppingly good and the store offers design service to help you choose the perfect something for your home.
Nadeau, 647 Thompson Lane, Nashville, 615-298-2474
This store is part warehouse, part showroom. Expect tables piled on tables and lots of global influences. (The products are almost always imported.) There are some staged vignettes, but digging through all the merchandise is half the fun.
Sprintz, with locations in Nashville and Cool Springs
With the buying power of a national chain, this is Nashville’s hometown furniture family. The store has been family owned and operated for 35 years. Sprintz has a huge selection of all things decor with two stores that and a team of designers who will help you with everything from choosing the correct scale furniture for you room to fabric that is the perfect fit for your decor. The quality of their merchandise is always top-notch, but because of that buying power, they often have lower prices than many of their competitors.
ReFresh Home, 1276 Lewisburg Pike, Franklin, 615-472-1336
This store recently doubled the square footage to accommodate the huge selection of sofas, chairs, rugs, lighting, accessories and more. The owner is a designer who understands that offering a variety of price points is key, and they do. But they also offer top-of-the-line brand Norwalk, with custom American made sofas and 30-day delivery for those that want investment furnishings at a great price.
J.J. Ashley’s, 125 South Margin, Franklin, 615-791-0011
One of the most gasp-worthy furniture stores around, J.J. Ashley’s is sophisticated and European chic at it’s best. They offer custom tables and other handmade pieces, but there is plenty of stock in the store for you to love on right then and there.
Margi’s Chair & Chair Alike, 2205 Bandywood Dr., Nashville, 615-463-3322
Though the name proclaims a chair affinity, this furniture store offers tables, sofas and home accessories too. Located in Green Hills, the selection is traditional with a fun, fresh mix of fabric and finishes.
Merridian, 2909 Sidco Dr., Nashville, 615-463-0555
While this furniture store, started in Kentucky with another location now in Nashville, offers imports like Nadeau, they also mix in a big dose of modern furniture and upholstered pieces. Sophisticated and funky, this store mixes it up in their furniture selection.
PD’s, 119 South Margin, Franklin, 615-591-3205
Only open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., this warehouse looks a bit decrepit from the outside. Inside? Amazing furniture at prices that are juicy good. Lots of coffee tables, chairs and assorted hard furnishings, they do have a smattering of upholstered items. No custom orders, but great prices. And since they change their stock weekly, you will want to visit often.

This family owned business, the original store is in Knoxville, has a just-right price point and a modern meets traditional aesthetic that makes the chain furniture stores look stodgy.
B.F. Meyers Furniture, 117 French Street, Goodlettsville, 615-859-1301
Another family owned furniture store, this Hendersonville staple has been in business for 160 years. Worth the drive, the showroom is big (60,000 square feet) with lines from Lane, Paula Deen and more. They offer design service and have hundreds of fabric options for custom furniture.

Part gift and home accessory store, the owners of this Brentwood shop have expanded their furniture selection. Great lamps and giclee’ art, they now carry sofas, chests and more. Even if you can’t buy a big furniture item, you will still walk out with a fun throw or decorative seasonal item.
