Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program empowers women to grab a hammer and take the lead to help lower-income families in their own community build and purchase safe, affordable housing. Hammer’s & High Heels, HFHWM’s largest fundraiser, will bring 350 to 400 people together on June 2nd to raise the $70,000 needed for the “bricks and sticks” of this home. Habitat for Humanityhas built 215 homes in Williamson and Maury Counties and continues to build 10-12 new homes per year.
This year’s Women Build future homeowner Vanesia Brown is a single mother of two who never imagined she would own her own home. She was ecstatic to qualify to be part of the Habitat Homeownership program. Over the next few months, she will complete 280 hours of “sweat equity,” save up the $2,000 in closing costs, and will then be eligible to purchase her house with a zero-interest mortgage.
