Over the summer in East Nashville’s Magnetic Sound Studio, Aaron Lee Tasjan and Lilly Hiatt recorded a folky cover of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ “Walls.”
Now, following Tom Petty’s untimely death, the two have released the collaborative cover to benefit Music Health Alliance. Music Health Alliance is an organization whose vision is to create a safe and confidential place for the music community to gain healthcare and health insurance solutions through defined and transparent advocacy services with an emphasis on the prevention of illness and overall wellness.
Available for download from both the artists’ Bandcamp pages here, all proceeds will go to the non-profit in honor of Tom Petty.
Tasjan offered, “Tom’s music really brings people together, and we were happy to be singing one of his many incredible tunes together that day. Now that he’s passed, we wanted to release it in his name and provide people another opportunity to donate to the Music Health Alliance in Tom’s remembrance.” Of the recording process, Hiatt stated, “Some days are diamonds, and this certainly was one of those. Tom Petty, you will be greatly missed.”
Check out the cover HERE and be sure to catch Lilly Hiatt at Mercy Lounge tonight (Oct. 9) as part of Nashville Gives Back: A Benefit Concert for Las Vegas.
