Under Canvas, the fastest growing adventure-hospitality brand in America, announces the opening of Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The glamping company’s first camp south of the Mason-Dixon Line will make a summer 2018 debut.
Immersed in an international biosphere reserve, the safari-inspired resort is the first of its kind in such close proximity to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Offering unparalleled adventure, pristine mountain views and access to the appalachian trail, Great Smoky Mountains will be the largest Under Canvas property and will sleep over 200 people. “An expansion to the South has always been our goal,” says co-founder Sarah Dusek. “We are thrilled to bring Under Canvas to America’s most visited national park.”
Just one hour south of Knoxville, the sweeping 200-acre camp will host more than 70 canvas tents and include amenities such as in-tent bathrooms and showers, king size beds, sleeper sofas and daily housekeeping. Well-rested glampers will wake to the sound of nature in the wifi-free camp. Embracing the brand’s leave-no-trace commitment, the property will utilize solar energy and use the daily water equivalent of one residential household.
Named the “Land of the Blue Smoke” after its localized atmospheric phenomenon, the mountainous 800-square-miles of lush forest is home to over 400 different types of wildlife. Providing fully customizable itineraries for travelers, Under Canvas offers access to undiscovered areas through expertly guided excursions and coordinates unique activities for guests of all ages.
Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains has sister properties in Zion, Moab, Yellowstone and Glacier national parks.
