Nashville has officially solidified its status as a hip city and has opened its first “cat cafe.” Mewsic Kitty Cafe is open for business in the Woodbine neighborhood. For those unfamiliar with the concept, cat cafes offer a space for customers to enjoy coffee, tea, and a variety of pastries whilst cuddling up with cats.

“Mewsic Kitty Cafe is a one-of-a-kind cat cafe that could only happen in Nashville, TN; paying homage to our namesake city in feline form while providing a vibrant, comfy, cage-free place for our adoptable headliners (that’s the cats!) to meet their furever families. We’re a creative space for cat enthusiasts to work, play, and indulge in a little “cat therapy” while enjoying a taste of the local scene through comforting drinks and sweet snacks.”

At any given time, there are about 15 cats ranging in age and breed that are residents of the cafe. What’s more, all of the cats are available for adoption through the cafe’s partner- Nashville Cat Rescue! Those interested in adoption rather than a mere visit, however, are required to book a reservation- which you can do HERE.*

Regular meet-and-greets are priced beginning at $12 an hour. In addition, the cafe also intends to host events such as “cat yoga”- rivaling the latest craze found in “goat yoga.”

According to the cafe’s website, one giant misconception regarding cat cafes is that they exist as a space for cat owner’s to bring their own pets. Mewsic Kitty Cafe, however, operates on a strict NO BYOC (that’s- No Bring Your Own Cat) basis. While the cafe entertains cat lovers of all ages through meet and greets, the priority is to “provide a relaxing, cage free environment for foster felines until they meet their furever families.”

If you’re a “cat lady” in training- or already are a self-proclaimed cat lady- then head on over to Mewsic Kitty Cafe located at 2519 Nolensville Pike. The cafe is currently only open Thursday- Sunday 11am-8pm and is closed Monday-Wednesday.

*It is worth noting that whereas reservations are only explicitly required where adoption is intended, Mewsic Kitty Cage strongly recommends reservations in all cases.
