Ona Cryobar has debuted the latest in Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) healthcare technology as the first facility in the Nashville area to offer the state-of-the-art Juka Cryosauna by Cryohealthcare.  Founded in 2009, Cryohealthcare pioneered the field of Whole Body Cryotherapy in the U.S. and offers the latest developments in cryogenics to help clients exceed their goals in health, sport performance and beauty.

Cryotherapy has fast become the treatment of choice for professional athletes and celebrities alike to include Tony Robbins, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Derek Hough, Demi Moore and many more.  Originally developed in Japan, this high-tech version of an ice pack has been used to help relieve muscle pains, sprains and swelling either via soft tissue damage or postoperative swelling, increase metabolism and weight loss with a 500-800 calorie burn.

Whole Body Cryotherapy has been highlighted by Dr. OzGood Morning AmericaForbes and Glamour magazines.  This technology is now being used in medical spas and athletic training facilities across the U.S.  Many professional athletes who utilize ice packs or even ice baths, following strenuous exercise have discovered WBC as a powerful and more comfortable modality to decrease recovery time and increase athletic performance.  It’s been reported that professional sports organizations across the country use this technology for the benefit of their athletes to include the Cleveland Cavaliers, LA Lakers, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers to name a few.  In 2011, the Dallas Mavericks, the second-oldest team (age) in the NBA that season, credited Whole Body Cryotherapy for helping them win their first league championship.

Ona Cryobar has partnered with the annual St. Jude Rock-n-Roll Marathon and 1/2 Marathon to offer their athletes in training a special “runner perk” to experience Cryotherapy for themselves as they train for the Nashville marathon on April 28, 2018.

Research shows that the body responds to the cold temperatures by increasing metabolism, vasoconstriction and then vasodilation of blood vessels increasing oxygen to the tissues and releasing natural anti-inflammatories as well as endorphins or “feel good” hormones. This treatment also stimulates collagen production for younger, tighter skin, decreases swelling and toxins in the body, improves sleep, reduces fatigue and promotes overall health.

Ona Cryobar exposes clients to the coldest temperatures reached of any Cryosauna, exposing individuals to extreme cold, dry air ranging between (-200°F and -256 °F) for one to three minutes. During exposure, two methods are typically used: liquid nitrogen and refrigerated cold air. The machine is equipped with an electric lift, so the client inside is submerged in the liquid nitrogen fumes only up to his/her neck while breathing room temperature air at all times. At Ona Cryobar, clients have a spa technician with them during the treatment so that they are comfortable and have continuous communication.

Health and Safety:  Due to the exposure to extremely cold temperatures, clients are required to dress in protective clothing composed of cotton socks, cotton underwear (for men), and gloves. For added safety, the Cryochamers or Crysauna are also equipped with an oxygen monitor. The client is in continuous communication with the technician at all times, which improves the client’s overall sense of safety.
